THE LEATHER FABRICS I USE FOR MY PRODUCTS

THE LEATHER FABRICS I USE FOR MY PRODUCTS

At LRLC, I want to be 100% transparent with my leather products.

I have spent many hours researching and sourcing leather fabrics to bring you the highest quality leather for longevity in my badass garments.

Yes, all of my jackets are made from 100% leather.

Through many hours of research, I have made sure that the hides are sourced from an ethical leather merchant in Northampton, UK. GH Leathers only use skins that are a by-product of the meat industry, meaning the farming priority is food and the hide is secondary.

It was my main priority when sourcing leather fabrics for my products.

I have also visited their factory where they had a vast range of hides to choose from and was very impressed with the knowledge the staff had.

I do get asked a lot if I make vegan leather jackets:

For a start, I don’t design jackets out of plastic faux leather (cause that sucks for the environment.)

I am more than happy to discuss other alternatives when making a custom piece.

The difference between PU and real leather:

PU

  • It's made from plastic
  • It's easily torn
  • It doesn’t have longevity
  • It won’t decompose due to it being plastic
  • It’s not sustainable for the environment
  • It doesn’t hold its shape like leather

REAL LEATHER

  • It's made naturally and ethically
  • It gets better with age
  • It won’t lose its value
  • It’s higher in quality
  • It’s more sustainable for the environment
  • It will last longer

The best thing about leather fabric is that it gets more badass with age the more you wear it, essentially when you're buying into one of my designs, you are investing in a unique piece for your wardrobe.

In a world so heightened in sustainability, I knew this would be the right option to make my products using leather fabrics. Yes, PU leather and vegan leather may come across as being friendly but that is not always the case and can be full of plastic which is in no way sustainable for our future.

So yes you can be sustainable and wear leather fabrics

All my leathers are custom-made in-house by myself so if you would like to find out more information and book in for 2023, check out my custom leather service
