The Essence of Quality Leather
When it comes to creating products that stand the test of time, leather is my material of choice. But not just any leather - I’m committed to sourcing and crafting with leather that meets the highest standards of quality, durability, and style. In this post, I’m taking you on the journey from hide to a beautifully handcrafted product.
Sourcing Premium Leather
My commitment to quality starts with sourcing. I carefully select hides from trusted suppliers who uphold ethical practices. This means focusing on suppliers that not only emphasize quality but also value responsible sourcing. Premium hides are naturally resilient, with a fine texture that sets them apart and makes every product unique.
"My suppliers are known for environmentally conscious practices, ensuring that each hide used in our products comes from sustainable sources."
Why Quality Leather Matters for You
My choice of premium leather isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about creating products that serve you well over the years. Quality leather is durable, ages beautifully, and, unlike synthetic materials, it can be repaired and restored. With proper care, my leather products develop a unique character over time, making them truly one-of-a-kind.
At LRLC, I believe in complete transparency when it comes to my leather products. I’ve dedicated countless hours to researching and sourcing high-quality leather to ensure each garment is built for durability and style. Each of my products is crafted from 100% genuine leather, chosen to enhance the longevity and timeless appeal of these badass pieces, creating a quality heirloom that can be cherished for generations.
Through extensive research, I’ve partnered with ethical leather merchants in Northampton, UK, who source only hides that are by-products of the meat industry, meaning that food production is prioritized, and leather is a sustainable secondary product. This commitment to ethical sourcing was my primary focus in selecting leather fabrics for LRLC.
I’ve personally visited the warehouses of my main suppliers, GH Leathers and A.A. Crack, where I had access to an impressive range of hides. Not only did I find a vast selection, but I was also inspired by the knowledge and expertise of the staff, confirming that these partners are perfectly aligned with LRLC’s standards of quality and ethics.

Choosing Leather for Sustainability
Many people wonder about leather’s environmental impact, but genuine leather, sourced responsibly, is more sustainable in many ways than synthetic alternatives. PU and plastic-based vegan leathers are made from petroleum-based materials, which require intensive energy and produce significant waste.
These materials may not break down for centuries, unlike natural leather, which is biodegradable and recyclable when sourced from ethical suppliers. By choosing real leather from reputable sources, you are supporting a more sustainable cycle of use, where products are created to last, reducing waste over time.
I often get asked if I make vegan leather jackets. Here’s my take: I choose not to work with plastic-based faux leather (since it’s tough on the environment). That said, I’m always open to discussing alternative materials for custom pieces.
Here’s a quick look at the difference between PU (faux) leather and genuine leather:
PU Leather
Made from plastic
Prone to tearing
Lacks durability
Won't decompose because it’s plastic-based
Not an environmentally sustainable option
Doesn’t retain its shape over time
Real Leather
Naturally and ethically sourced
Improves with age, developing a unique patina
Retains its value over time
Offers superior quality
Environmentally more sustainable
Built to last, creating a lasting heirloom piece
The Versatility of Leather
One of the reasons leather remains popular is its incredible versatility. Leather jackets, in particular, offer a mix of ruggedness and refinement that makes them perfect for both casual wear and formal occasions. The adaptability of leather ensures that your jacket won’t just sit in your closet—it will be a go-to piece, fitting seamlessly into all parts of your life. Whether you’re headed out for a weekend road trip or stepping into a professional setting, leather adapts, enhances, and elevates any outfit.
From Hide to Handcrafted Leather Legacy
Each product tells a story—from the carefully selected hide to my skilled hands that bring it to life. By choosing high-quality handcrafted leather, I ensure that my products are more than just accessories; they’re investments in quality, designed to be cherished for years to come.
The best part about handcrafted leather is that it only gets more badass with age - the more you wear it, the more character it gains.
In today’s world, sustainability is key, which is why I chose leather as the primary material for my products. While PU and vegan leathers may seem eco-friendly, they’re often loaded with plastics, which isn’t sustainable for our future. Real leather, by contrast, is durable, natural, and ages beautifully, making it an environmentally responsible choice.
So yes, you can be sustainable and wear genuine handcrafted leather.
